Hi there, and welcome to my website! My name is Stephanie Kane and I recently graduated with a degree in dramaturgy at Carnegie Mellon University. I am now based in New York City pursuing a career in dramaturgy and literary management. Currently you can find me reading plays for the Williamstown Theatre Festival and leading writer's workshops and working on staged readings at The Workshop Theater.
I love diving into research and analysis of any and all theatrical genres, such as classical texts (The Comedy of Errors), musicals (The Full Monty), contemporary plays (boom), and completely original works (I'm Very Into You, Welcome to Here). As a dramaturg, I find immense joy working with playwrights and directors to realize their visions, collaborating with designers and actors to delve deeper into our shared world, and communicating directly with audiences through program material, lobby displays, and talkbacks.
I've had the opportunity to work as a dramaturg on productions at the Carnegie Mellon University School of Drama as well as at Bricolage Production Company, Santa Cruz Shakespeare, and on independent productions in New York. Through the School of Drama's Playground Festival of Independent Student Work, I've collaborated with my peers on original material as a dramaturg, playwright, and actor.
I've spent my summers at the Williamstown Theatre Festival, Santa Cruz Shakespeare, and as a vocational coordinator and educator at Camp Ramah in California. In New York I have worked as an intern at Dixon Place and as a teaching artist with The Public Theater's Public Shakespeare Initiative. I am also a proud alumna of Center Theatre Group's Student Advisory Committee.
In addition to my work in theatre, I enjoy healthy vegan eating and cooking, running, yoga, and bullet journaling.
